<br />
A few years ago I bought this Shasta with the intent of turning it into a mobile art studio. Insert Happy dance when I first saw her and big thanks to the friend who directed me to her!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVfZTrzcbNrSOGJDfr67Ev9aj13t406KBF3vYMhij4sbCcRomkv1Ss6OsUqWw2llw-OXQj8wuPXnK7UHkSveux8zw-3VZ2IU9Rb6pZ9d9hfoiE4OM7u6-IY998A_YPe5zKu8ECL6HxWKIb/s1600/original-shasta.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="750" height="204" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVfZTrzcbNrSOGJDfr67Ev9aj13t406KBF3vYMhij4sbCcRomkv1Ss6OsUqWw2llw-OXQj8wuPXnK7UHkSveux8zw-3VZ2IU9Rb6pZ9d9hfoiE4OM7u6-IY998A_YPe5zKu8ECL6HxWKIb/s320/original-shasta.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I purchased the 1963 Shasta on the spot and returned a week later to pick her up. My husband and I pulled her slow and easy about 50 miles to our home. My husband, who is a carpenter/builder (thank heavens), slowly but surely over the past couple of years started putting into place the vision I had for my little trailer. The only thing inside was kitchen cabinetry which wasn't all original and what we think was an original closet. That was left for storage and to put in a free standing portable AC unit inside of. This IS Texas after all! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaTMyQYhJbvY4uFlU98YIrMxrkV62ecjeBzEeXz9ldpiWAWdteyJjwi1oa95pKlFnKE8M1rjweCKZpSQwk5o3DVPgAzw1Ny32QK2DcZKb6ixDwA4wKpstIAMrzdtwEvgy_KINy6JrJc4m5/s1600/IMG_20160302_204520.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaTMyQYhJbvY4uFlU98YIrMxrkV62ecjeBzEeXz9ldpiWAWdteyJjwi1oa95pKlFnKE8M1rjweCKZpSQwk5o3DVPgAzw1Ny32QK2DcZKb6ixDwA4wKpstIAMrzdtwEvgy_KINy6JrJc4m5/s320/IMG_20160302_204520.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
So with a blank slate before us colors were picked and the inside roof and walls were re-skinned. Insulation was added above the new ceiling. I wanted bead board at chair rail height around the insides.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Along the front width of trailer my husband built me a front counter, open underneath so I can use for storage if I need, and I decorated the top of it. This front counter is used as a display area.</div>

An old little mirrored dresser with a broken leg that we fixed I painted over. Painting over wood on an old piece of furniture is not something I would normally do but, the top was a bit damaged so I told myself I was doing it justice with paint. I used the bead board trim color to tie the look together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEice0oy5COpK8IGwP5SRHlnFech_nKgX75Tqht_b2-pWWpKYcFkHjHrFGBMD6Bdbr4HjQf31HMCTbxUZ6iivWFfiYttIs1yHg9pCHxKpliB169tQcAG9LMOUzZvISwTwIPS74VPigOz5Ih9/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="489" data-original-width="747" height="209" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEice0oy5COpK8IGwP5SRHlnFech_nKgX75Tqht_b2-pWWpKYcFkHjHrFGBMD6Bdbr4HjQf31HMCTbxUZ6iivWFfiYttIs1yHg9pCHxKpliB169tQcAG9LMOUzZvISwTwIPS74VPigOz5Ih9/s320/Untitled-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This little studio was coming together! Laminate wood planked flooring went in, and the inside was coming along nicely. Electrical wiring was worked on and several silver track lights installed. Not sure I'll ever use them but I like the way they finished out the look and I needed some kind of lighting I figured. Finally it was on to the outside. <br />
New tires and wheels with the baby moon hubcaps were done. Paint for the outside was a topic of discussion but I felt I really wanted to keep her close to her original look. Yes, I may get artsy on her in the future but I really, really like the authentic look to her. Maybe vinyl art so it won't be permanent? Again, good to have a builder for a husband as he did it all! The trailer taped off, I think we did awesome at picking that almost true to original color and she is totally freshened up on the outside. She was almost ready!!! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiED1pfdwZkh3f7vhmsuTWNHmJAXtMl0NouHyceRobkyocVEFrtRX3_ZZFzTZ0_BlO_rV7ljUoT3ysyjHMVGu3qYRCbC0KqbEwwYzNJmvAsDO64YFJ8avzwtlEzNInNRcQ51VTig9o_dRQc/s1600/twist-of-pink-shasta.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="694" data-original-width="596" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiED1pfdwZkh3f7vhmsuTWNHmJAXtMl0NouHyceRobkyocVEFrtRX3_ZZFzTZ0_BlO_rV7ljUoT3ysyjHMVGu3qYRCbC0KqbEwwYzNJmvAsDO64YFJ8avzwtlEzNInNRcQ51VTig9o_dRQc/s320/twist-of-pink-shasta.jpg" width="274" /></a></div>
<br />
A rebuild of the door which I'm told is easier said than done, some blackboard paint on part of the inside door and we were down to the final thing necessary before using her. A portable AC unit. It was placed into the closet with an opening for the air to vent through cut exact within the closet door. Looks like it belongs! The AC exhaust needed a custom built chase to go out through to the floor and the drain tube out through floor also. With that it was done, exception being the front eyebrow. The old wood in the eyebrow frame plus a new piece that had been put in has not held up to the elements. Final decision on what to do there has not been made still. Yet in the meantime she made her first trip to a show earlier this month. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgxSl6Vhgfpjo69MRPBPoXPXnUCl4Tipyuy6CuRjHvBcp85DDAnr8TfuG1eAbQw3UUDedyTeHUQBWKtdpGWoaLKQBmi88TMz04TdbHjy-H5JmnBSygDPif4IAeutg_C8i7I1yPINVC3lLP/s1600/1963-Shasta.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="750" data-original-width="600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgxSl6Vhgfpjo69MRPBPoXPXnUCl4Tipyuy6CuRjHvBcp85DDAnr8TfuG1eAbQw3UUDedyTeHUQBWKtdpGWoaLKQBmi88TMz04TdbHjy-H5JmnBSygDPif4IAeutg_C8i7I1yPINVC3lLP/s320/1963-Shasta.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>
So, lastly I'll leave you with pics of her set at the event that I took and a quick partial video tour that I did before the event when I was doing a partial dry run set up for the show. It was really hot, and I mean <i>really</i> hot so it was quick. I've not edited it and it doesn't show the side of the trailer with the AC and closet but it will give you a look at the inside finishes, along with the pics.<br />

So excited! It has been a lot of work, reiterate, a-lot-of-work, for my husband to have gotten my little dream built out to my vision. I've had the easy part of creating the artwork.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkBKzEb0YnGzaEBvzMrUNyMXm5-Rdgyr8atJqoxddbrFxjeXPIJlv-UjknpGYgZgGusoyml0Yz2ZtubBlZ_cUt8WaDdkVv-X9Ec98bNCGISARIiQ2nllQVsD6V2s6FhGKgjZ9IOAB0ipfe/s1600/trailer-pic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="400" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkBKzEb0YnGzaEBvzMrUNyMXm5-Rdgyr8atJqoxddbrFxjeXPIJlv-UjknpGYgZgGusoyml0Yz2ZtubBlZ_cUt8WaDdkVv-X9Ec98bNCGISARIiQ2nllQVsD6V2s6FhGKgjZ9IOAB0ipfe/s320/trailer-pic.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
This is just a couple of pics as I hauled stuff out to the trailer and then back inside, doing a "dry run" on set up. If it wasn't a scorching and melting 90-100 degrees I'd be tempted to haul everything out and leave it set up inside. But, I'm afraid that could spell disaster leaving everything to bake in literally a tin can until the weekend. I'll try to get better pictures of actual set up and post here or <a href="http://www.instagram.com/twistofpink" target="_blank">Instagram</a> this weekend.<br />
Or better yet, you can come to the <a href="http://www.parkercountypeachfestival.org/" target="_blank">Peach Festival</a> (07/08/17) and see it first hand!!<br />
Granted I have only been to a handful of the Peach festivals over the past 20 years, mainly due to the heat. This is Texas, it's hot, real hot, especially in July and August. I have perfected the art of going from AC to AC, have maintained a nice white glow to my skin, and well if I'm honest.....a sweater! Like wipe my brow a lot sweater! So having thought about selling and setting up has always been quickly dismissed. I'm hoping I literally don't melt this year and all goes well. Like, pray for clouds and stuff! :)<br />
<br />
Other happenings are my new greeting card line. This has been in the works for awhile. I've had several designs off and on but committed to develop this and will debut this new and growing side of my art business this weekend as well. I'll be offering wholesale to boutiques and stores as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So have a good and safe Summer! Be sure to follow me on <a href="http://www.instagram.com/twistofpink" target="_blank">Instagram</a> too!<br /><br />

I last posted when?!! Well I'll try to catch up on a few things.<br />
First off it is springtime. A favorite time of year for me here in Texas. Summers all oppressive and all, this time of year is grand! <br />
Currently I'm on a creative binge which is producing lots of ideas and art as well. Getting it posted and up for sale are tasks I don't enjoy as I'd much rather be creating but are necessary evils and I <i>have</i> to get better at that too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgregOgFjYLUraE4WGK8dSAPvKTpwa3sLNeSZ5r-BRqWcQKSOlYhNneaqcAkQH4Yk9qHSxfgdlQF81eVWf25fPUkZJhFLoAcF2UypsFDlcGX6vAEJqnYuC-ymzVFsXbLjS1hh10eQic7h7t/s1600/Paper-7x.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgregOgFjYLUraE4WGK8dSAPvKTpwa3sLNeSZ5r-BRqWcQKSOlYhNneaqcAkQH4Yk9qHSxfgdlQF81eVWf25fPUkZJhFLoAcF2UypsFDlcGX6vAEJqnYuC-ymzVFsXbLjS1hh10eQic7h7t/s320/Paper-7x.jpg" width="316" /></a></div>
First off I've got lots of art that I'm putting into prints and preparing to sell. This is just one that's currently on <a href="https://www.twistofpink.com/" target="_blank">my website</a>.<br /><br />
And cards.....most of my art is available as a card or a post card.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOW-Mc_m_Nn81PjFfb9ncnQhR-wyo0xjOdUcFkeNyqrVJbw5btnBKvybywnTbsIbaNOajnswriDzTF558__lusEqN-TFOOLDEPemQhitUqisb_NQulYyFIIq5WYHFqSTuUTs6k1l0HfV0d/s1600/Jana+McLaughlin+Cards.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOW-Mc_m_Nn81PjFfb9ncnQhR-wyo0xjOdUcFkeNyqrVJbw5btnBKvybywnTbsIbaNOajnswriDzTF558__lusEqN-TFOOLDEPemQhitUqisb_NQulYyFIIq5WYHFqSTuUTs6k1l0HfV0d/s320/Jana+McLaughlin+Cards.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
Other happenings around the studio involve this project, remember it?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPh_247_ibRk4cKG47HB6KYepaxVjUjCSnr6XhDjEAg8GRuAHV6evaqHil6wLNsXnEkvPPct7A3J6fJXNRgXrjZth6bha2698apuyEWSgJO-Y6rKVTdS3USd0lq954zivDHOmYzGklsu_G/s1600/original-shasta.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="204" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPh_247_ibRk4cKG47HB6KYepaxVjUjCSnr6XhDjEAg8GRuAHV6evaqHil6wLNsXnEkvPPct7A3J6fJXNRgXrjZth6bha2698apuyEWSgJO-Y6rKVTdS3USd0lq954zivDHOmYzGklsu_G/s320/original-shasta.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Well its four years ago, yes four that I bought this to makeover to take to events and festivals. These things might be small but take alot of work. Just ask my husband! He has done an awesome job on executing my vision on the inside and yesterday I painted this old table that will go in it as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPOekP9cOEwfKxyw-hEIZQPHDFU0uunaz4zUSd62inTJXNOcnZ8T9y-8sd60w09dl_O8CQ4mTX9vBmP_7qordzeo9mXbjw52O9_LYgQNmNUANZ7X8_NS4DQ81uyZMbe_jpgw9K51kmBE_r/s1600/little+table.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPOekP9cOEwfKxyw-hEIZQPHDFU0uunaz4zUSd62inTJXNOcnZ8T9y-8sd60w09dl_O8CQ4mTX9vBmP_7qordzeo9mXbjw52O9_LYgQNmNUANZ7X8_NS4DQ81uyZMbe_jpgw9K51kmBE_r/s320/little+table.jpg" width="257" /></a></div>
Normally I'm very adverse to painting over wood, especially antiques and pieces from the past, but this table really called for it. It had fingernail polish all over the top on one side. Next up is the outside paint. Picked my colors this weekend so now for the perfect outside day with time available to paint and it will be go time! Progress is happening...yay!!<br />
<br />
New art has been steadily flowing which is always good. That is not always the case! I'm really jazzed about these journal/notebooks I've created covers for. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQchCOPzSwXRKqxllMj3TT_NwsFpQt4klv8T28GHbpWWSLO1KLKpXd2OTT8xWU-PYuIY5JR0wRntct60PQ8NtnYlJb4U27IEniCW0M3Avq709UL669rPk8HlSNZ0196mNOYiQ7OV5KzID6/s1600/journal+covers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQchCOPzSwXRKqxllMj3TT_NwsFpQt4klv8T28GHbpWWSLO1KLKpXd2OTT8xWU-PYuIY5JR0wRntct60PQ8NtnYlJb4U27IEniCW0M3Avq709UL669rPk8HlSNZ0196mNOYiQ7OV5KzID6/s320/journal+covers.jpg" width="315" /></a></div>
I've had fun designing and making these and they too will be available for sale soon. Limited quantities!<br />
<br />
So that's an update and until next time hope you are finding time to create too!!<br />

This will be listed soon in my shop not only as the original painting but also as a 13 x 19 poster!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKEGfIuCijnGKCEoQH6nICkiV1mOw28wWASNpQv077ya0C3g2ShF9yqPWqywlivmypv89D2gnqv3lxUoi0LaR6CiwxUELeeqJ6bu27PVqTgCjK-3K-iSzS_E6-EuSSUgNcSL_89_Ms9NGH/s1600/absract-collage-painting-12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKEGfIuCijnGKCEoQH6nICkiV1mOw28wWASNpQv077ya0C3g2ShF9yqPWqywlivmypv89D2gnqv3lxUoi0LaR6CiwxUELeeqJ6bu27PVqTgCjK-3K-iSzS_E6-EuSSUgNcSL_89_Ms9NGH/s320/absract-collage-painting-12.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This has several collage elements with primarily acrylic paint. This was inspired from a post I saved in <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/twistofpink" target="_blank">Pinterest</a> under my Art category. It was a fun piece to create although different than my usual undertakings. Always fun to play with paint!<br />

So, that being the case I came across this heart I'd made several years ago out of clay, then decoupaged one of my girl illustrations onto and painted it a bit. It has yellowed some but I'm sharing it with you anyway.<br />

As the past year was ending I didn't have time to create like I would have normally, so creating a few smaller 4 x 6 originals helped me bridge time and art. You can easily do this in an art journal or as I did individually. Canvas paper, watercolor paper, card stock are perfect for individual pieces like this if you don't want something "stuck" inside a journal. <br />
I'm looking forward to another creative year in 2017 and hope you join me. Be sure to follow me on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/twistofpink/" target="_blank">my Instagram</a> feed for frequent art sharing.Twist of Pinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15792498278894883306noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8251764154956012047.post-42801396396837711502016-11-13T16:26:00.002-06:002016-11-13T16:26:23.173-06:00New paintings!It is truly hard to imagine that the Holidays are upon us. Every year I wonder how they can come around so fast but they do! I've been doing a bit of elf work with some new paintings. Be sure to visit the Home page and go to my Shop.<br />

It has gotten to be quite a time consumption issue for me to make time for creating and then to maintain my own website plus two other avenues of posting things for sale. If someone has suggestion as to mainstream all that I'm all ears! So if you like any of my items be sure to check all my shopping avenues and look around as what is on one may not be on another.<br />

But I have finally made a short video. Well, kind of short. I had painted the background on this canvas and thought there is no time like the present to create a quick canvas that I could actually video. So, aside from a small goof at the end I'm generally pleased with this first attempt results.<br />
<br />
So new YouTube channel for Twist of Pink Studio!!<br />

I attempted my first attempt at video of me painting, actually working on this piece. But wasn't happy with the way it turned out and the lighting shifted during the afternoon as I painted not helping me either. <br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitc6yjaskOhD7oyT-XohJ1AOzqVEt-M4KCmxxYBHPi-O-GNdHFXql5fAL8Ii3NQPOnh52Fd2To-qYKXe-5qt5bE_AeAnQZa0WhVVzz5Nyc0zA0vepUA6C4GdipB7zFPQiKAb1qFGOyMA00/s1600/abstract-canvas2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitc6yjaskOhD7oyT-XohJ1AOzqVEt-M4KCmxxYBHPi-O-GNdHFXql5fAL8Ii3NQPOnh52Fd2To-qYKXe-5qt5bE_AeAnQZa0WhVVzz5Nyc0zA0vepUA6C4GdipB7zFPQiKAb1qFGOyMA00/s320/abstract-canvas2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Then I attempted to bring that video over onto my computer via blue tooth and have never had a glitch with that until today also. Can't get it to work. So when the universe says, "no not today you don't", a person has to listen. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So another painting, another time maybe. But for now I'll just share this with you this way.<br />
Hope you are having a wonderful summer!Twist of Pinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15792498278894883306noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8251764154956012047.post-27342386252981645552016-07-04T17:00:00.001-05:002016-07-04T17:00:56.376-05:00Creative process & head gamesI recently saw this saying on an Instagram post and decided to draw it out. I thought it really spoke to me as an artist.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWo88URd5nB0IbESqPgWZweshn5hgtSjk1NHCmYBZERFgHumyMatLThV5phIrFulTBD5EvwyCAV7Lv7NI0uW9JUuWr66P7hELy18trH81E-dGaeVObkZ64pf90wMjHU6GqJxHKBjpGzOqB/s1600/Rumi-quote.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWo88URd5nB0IbESqPgWZweshn5hgtSjk1NHCmYBZERFgHumyMatLThV5phIrFulTBD5EvwyCAV7Lv7NI0uW9JUuWr66P7hELy18trH81E-dGaeVObkZ64pf90wMjHU6GqJxHKBjpGzOqB/s320/Rumi-quote.jpg" width="273" /></a></div>
If as an artist, one can stay true to what you <i>want</i> to create, or try creatively without fear it will not lead you astray as it says. So, this weekend I re-visited my love/hate with canvas. Having always been drawn to canvas, from before I owned enough paints to do anything on a canvas, I have wanted to create successfully on canvas.<br />
The hit and miss success has frustrated me as I couldn't find any consistency with my outcomes. Of course, I'm hardest on myself with judgement so frustration may or may not be truly warranted. Who knows?! Lol! So stayed tuned and check out <a href="http://www.instagram.com/twistofpink" target="_blank">my Instagram</a> for the results of my approach to canvas of late. Twist of Pinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15792498278894883306noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8251764154956012047.post-79431622834106714802016-06-13T15:32:00.000-05:002016-06-13T15:32:00.255-05:00Why canvas doesn't like me....I yearn to create on canvas. I can't hardly grace the doors of the craft store and not leave with a canvas. If you've followed me for awhile I've mentioned this love hate relationship I have with canvas. I'll create and be happy with canvas for awhile then poof, like magic dust that isn't very magical, I won't be happy with half a dozen attempts! Crazy thing this is.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2fWDNBbatofdGilJLu3kny3Cnr38EcnxyWVbW4-nyiLHHvzPyFdAliaZUDqRxMg4N9dGM0QmIKlmJBk0w3zktU5FEwdsQPjDmVA8TWsbTFStKroJEluCtf1AbAvTlcfQBT2-xjNwgehLR/s1600/twist-of-pink-canvas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2fWDNBbatofdGilJLu3kny3Cnr38EcnxyWVbW4-nyiLHHvzPyFdAliaZUDqRxMg4N9dGM0QmIKlmJBk0w3zktU5FEwdsQPjDmVA8TWsbTFStKroJEluCtf1AbAvTlcfQBT2-xjNwgehLR/s320/twist-of-pink-canvas.jpg" width="154" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Canvas in a stand. Cropped pic but stand arms still show at bottom.</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Canvas is all about strokes and movement with the coordination of paint and whatever else I'm putting onto it. Sounds delightful, and it is, but canvas is not paper or a flat smooth surface. It has a surface of it's own and that is it! Canvas in and of itself often does not like me for this reason. Put a pen or pencil in my hand and I'm jumping off and on my way. Canvas, ideas have to flow to me differently, my ideas and my outcome often don't match. But my yearn to create on canvas remains strong. It's requirements of me are different. Less comfortable and more time consuming. But I'll mark this up to continuing artistic growth.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Must have left the window open. haha! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnRRMlAg2vMhGXRRYGB4Q0H6pBC5Umd0FWIclo6_JMmfWYOSex_vkdyxldc2-8TpeXLIjQEr6fOR-dgpem-bM1C7kUOeLzE64uLRl0xC53-6LY0iTGVRAxtijIHyPFcdXHNeHYonE5tL58/s1600/4+pack+doodle+bird+cards.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnRRMlAg2vMhGXRRYGB4Q0H6pBC5Umd0FWIclo6_JMmfWYOSex_vkdyxldc2-8TpeXLIjQEr6fOR-dgpem-bM1C7kUOeLzE64uLRl0xC53-6LY0iTGVRAxtijIHyPFcdXHNeHYonE5tL58/s320/4+pack+doodle+bird+cards.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
So I've created a pack of cards (2) Thinking of You and (2) Happy Birthday and put them on Amazon. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/handmade/twistofpink" target="_blank">www.amazon.com/handmade/twistofpink</a><br />
Those are probably my favorite so far and then there is a little canvas too that I painted just for fun.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT5xtpi79pZ0ua_F1ZHOqA-o_2tAAvOqHD5Kdj6yjxFud849uOF-yKB6D63_Qpvt-JQZtYChGGokVzAxU02k5nhvOXDJG8FJWA5SC6ioIOj8bD-W18965tKL0IFCoQHNA0A4OFs74B3oY8/s1600/twistofpink-may-22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT5xtpi79pZ0ua_F1ZHOqA-o_2tAAvOqHD5Kdj6yjxFud849uOF-yKB6D63_Qpvt-JQZtYChGGokVzAxU02k5nhvOXDJG8FJWA5SC6ioIOj8bD-W18965tKL0IFCoQHNA0A4OFs74B3oY8/s200/twistofpink-may-22.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
And then my journal/sketch book is re-visiting an old saying.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjiV5S8VYkgY63N9kGjN_xo82czyAcfG_oL5MciZ48_Z6s6uKw5HDmf82VJll4GBMZ7NvaSFZaTqRub6540jNxNks3XvvIU6WMMg73_EsiABS9LVxR845Z8RHY7oyQCEbfB24YlzshwYOy/s1600/take-a-falling-star-twist-o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjiV5S8VYkgY63N9kGjN_xo82czyAcfG_oL5MciZ48_Z6s6uKw5HDmf82VJll4GBMZ7NvaSFZaTqRub6540jNxNks3XvvIU6WMMg73_EsiABS9LVxR845Z8RHY7oyQCEbfB24YlzshwYOy/s320/take-a-falling-star-twist-o.jpg" width="199" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've been mixing things up lately with my process. Not that I'm using any different products just "playing" around with things and approaching in new an fresh ways. I've been reaching for watercolors a bit more and maybe I'll have something to share next time with that. Plus, I know alcohol inks are kind of a thing. Had mine for some time and never really did much with them. So just today I've got a canvas going where I'm using them. Until next time, catch me on Instagram some too! <a href="http://www.instagram.com/twistofpink" target="_blank">www.instagram.com/twistofpink</a></div>

Several fresh things laying on the studio desk right now. I'm continuing to create additions to my cards. If you haven't checked out what I already have you can see them <a href="http://www.twistofpink.com/store/c2/Shop_Cards.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
I'm trying to spend some time on work on canvas. In the middle of a bold and colorful canvas and having my usual love/hate with it going on. I'll have it posted on my <a href="http://instagram.com/twistofpink" target="_blank">instagram</a>. So thanks for checking in with me here in the studio for an update!<br />

Neglect the blog kind of busy. I'll have to say with Instagram it's just so much easier than blogging. So you may want to follow me there. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/twistofpink" target="_blank">https://www.instagram.com/twistofpink</a><br />
Of course my last post I shared a bit about my Shasta trailer in progress. Unfortunately not much else has progressed with it since that time. Other priorities have stolen that time. :(<br />
<br />
I'm excited to share however new Happy Birthday Cards and also new Postcards!!<br />

I'm quite proud of these as the quality is very very nice and the colors are so rich. I'll be posting them for sale soon. Next thing on my to do list!<br />
Until then I'm off to catch a few zzzz's like this precious girl. I so wish she would do this on the floor!<br />

I'm working on the Birthday card collection, I've got another new group of art planned and getting cued up for my next task, plus my little Shasta Trailer project. <br />

Now, I mention this as "my" little Shasta project but really it is my husbands project. I would still be looking inside overwhelmed with how to get my vision achieved if it were up to me to implement. After multiple sketches and standing inside with pencil in hand to mark out ideas onto the old walls over the past year and half, my vision is materializing. New inside skin on the walls and ceilings have been installed along with bead board. Colors were decided upon and being painted, along with flooring going in this weekend and a custom project of mine....a front display area counter top.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfVPlnFMF1GCt7wpdbTr8Cgnp9abAaAjWbH5-ZsheyQLi4pBfg945M9g9u2tlH9ypS-9SEFln9jNW_1LeCXsYwxoYGwdvPL1i9fhvTNkcGr2Gpg-COPTqgT7ObURcPhAP4KsoVYtYLc4Uw/s1600/20160305_135820.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfVPlnFMF1GCt7wpdbTr8Cgnp9abAaAjWbH5-ZsheyQLi4pBfg945M9g9u2tlH9ypS-9SEFln9jNW_1LeCXsYwxoYGwdvPL1i9fhvTNkcGr2Gpg-COPTqgT7ObURcPhAP4KsoVYtYLc4Uw/s200/20160305_135820.jpg" width="126" /></a></div>
<br />
This countertop is the width of the Shasta interior, so about 7-8 foot long. So picture doesn't reflect the full length.<br />
The center of the countertop has this open area design which broke up and complimented the size of the top.<br />
Lots of papers were harmed in the making of this project!! :)<br />
I utilized some of my own designs as well and can't wait to see it installed!<br />

There is still much to be done. The outside will need painted, tires and wheels, and a few other touches. But the fact that things are underway just makes me so happy! Updates will be posted on Instagram and some day a full reveal. </div>

Yesterday it was 80! Yes 80! Today I think it is in the 70's and absolutely delightful. But where is winter? Maybe where you live? And as much as I do delight in a good sunny day there is something about not feeling guilty when I'm in the studio on cold, dreary and wintry days.<br />
<br />
I'm busy with new art and new ideas. Famous for having ideas but not always getting them down I'm trying to correct that practice. I have a notebook/journal obsession to begin with and have kicked that into a higher gear with one in the car, (or let's make that two), one for my purse, and a countless number in the house.<br />
<br />
But today I wanted to share with you a new "girl". She has friends and I'm working on some birthday cards with all of them to sell soon. But yesterday I made some hearts out of clay. Another new adventure for me. Patience is allowing them to dry before proceeding! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo5ZFV1AxSDCDpXpawAh96vHOfQHhTCct7uakZYPFQXTSZKy51hcEAeFm6Nf6PDoEqo6UpLdIhuTUctITxvMZuVD9DdJ0IcVCErPg_z_RCj2GInsLeVdJTRwfIsaVrdcygRm0nKbvikonq/s1600/collage-girl-on-valentine-h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo5ZFV1AxSDCDpXpawAh96vHOfQHhTCct7uakZYPFQXTSZKy51hcEAeFm6Nf6PDoEqo6UpLdIhuTUctITxvMZuVD9DdJ0IcVCErPg_z_RCj2GInsLeVdJTRwfIsaVrdcygRm0nKbvikonq/s320/collage-girl-on-valentine-h.jpg" width="233" /></a></div>
I didn't have the right kind of wire so I improvised and unfortunately the Poly I applied lastly yellowed my piece a bit but it was fun none the less! Not sure why the yellowing. The clay? The paint base I used? Or maybe it's not shaken well enough Poly? Sigh.Twist of Pinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15792498278894883306noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8251764154956012047.post-21762158925316619632016-01-24T15:43:00.001-06:002016-01-24T15:43:19.001-06:00His Grace<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

In times of adversity, trouble, pain, and sometimes just everyday life we can't for get this!<br />
It can be so easy to take things for granted that when our apple carts get up ended we need to be reminded that "his grace is sufficient". <br />
<br />
I've got new art as new posters listed for sale in <a href="http://www.twistofpink.com/shop" target="_blank">my shop</a> and also available on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/handmade/twistofpink" target="_blank">Amazon</a>. <br />

A ripple in time and here we are at 2016.<br />
2015 was a good art year and with strong optimism and some necessary time in the studio I believe 2016 to be even better!<br />
<br />
I've closed out 2015 with a day of studio cleaning. You can't see the entire area from this picture but I assure you it is in better order all around that it has been for some time. It's been interesting to see my art studio change and transform as my art has. I literally tossed 4 bags of trash and yes, even including old art. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbNQCR1SRdz5Tr7uSyrpSzl6nP4GNHXfAH98w6ZU6EsSssPx-cJ4pgk8VUn5kxpwEtUfIrU73dEzKSt2O0M-ptq3opZUDirvzvC1S5nB6PjRgCoiu8bqg5iqaMCm6t2pW3v81OHr62bYQh/s1600/studio-pic-dec-15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbNQCR1SRdz5Tr7uSyrpSzl6nP4GNHXfAH98w6ZU6EsSssPx-cJ4pgk8VUn5kxpwEtUfIrU73dEzKSt2O0M-ptq3opZUDirvzvC1S5nB6PjRgCoiu8bqg5iqaMCm6t2pW3v81OHr62bYQh/s320/studio-pic-dec-15.jpg" width="309" /></a></div>
So now as 2016 begins, fresh and organized I'm looking forward to some new art ideas and putting brush to canvas and messy fingers and lots of color. So here is sneek peak at a new piece for 2016 and it is listed on my <a href="http://www.twistofpink.com/shop" target="_blank">shop</a> for sale now as a 13 x 19 poster.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Happy New Year!!<br />
<br />Twist of Pinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15792498278894883306noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8251764154956012047.post-43185591271881551392015-12-06T13:32:00.001-06:002015-12-06T13:32:19.829-06:00What I love about artAs the sun beams through the window and hits the studio table it lays down a layer warmth. In that brightness and warmth I have obviously forgotten it is Christmas time. The month that should be filled with art comprised of decorated trees, ornaments and packages. It is lost on me. A new 12 x 36 canvas beckons me in and as the colors are selected and the brush hits the canvas I've got anything <i>but</i> the look of the Christmas season.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqNiB5PV6vGKXB9Ps0x3cIxiE3ansIuAYND8Qgf-Q5sG2Cl9x3sVwBI5DWPAu93FO99e-PHWfCfnRuOgO2czVLd0-rug16bCxgB3htMjflinEK24BmRa_hnfcMuZMS8ZJdvNFUJqYEBMA-/s1600/canvas-4-flowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqNiB5PV6vGKXB9Ps0x3cIxiE3ansIuAYND8Qgf-Q5sG2Cl9x3sVwBI5DWPAu93FO99e-PHWfCfnRuOgO2czVLd0-rug16bCxgB3htMjflinEK24BmRa_hnfcMuZMS8ZJdvNFUJqYEBMA-/s320/canvas-4-flowers.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
What I love about art is it can be intentional or free wheeling. I could have sat down with predetermined thought and intention to do something Christmas. But, for me it is becoming more and more about the free wheeling kind of art. In a world of guidelines, timelines, and lots and lots of intent dictated by everything around us....I for one find a flower because that's what came out exactly why I love art!!<br /><br />Twist of Pinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15792498278894883306noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8251764154956012047.post-26788306848718473432015-11-29T14:53:00.002-06:002015-11-29T14:53:23.071-06:00Tis the season!Here we are Thanksgiving now in the rear view mirror and Christmas laying before us. We all have phones in
our hands, at our ears and if we aren't talking we are texting.
Websites we visit ask for emails, offering discounts and ongoing letters
in exchange, increasing our online engagement. Pretty pictures lure us
in. Seemingly perfect rooms and decorations and presentations keep us
coming back for more. And on the social side we share and comment and
show to anyone who will give us the time. As an on-line entrepreneur
there is a necessary evil to many of the on-line trends.<br /><br />I create
art. I love to create art. And I hope you enjoy and even purchase art
from me. But I realize I can't be all places on-line to all people,
all the time. I don't have an assistant or virtual helper keeping me
polished, posted & fresh to all social places and sites on the web.
And sadly I can't pull it all off even with the 24hrs a day I'm given.
So, I ask your indulgence as I occasionally put down the paint brush or
the pen and share current studio happenings right here.<br /><br />Some day my daily hours may look decidedly different than they do now but until then, you'll find me here.<br />http://www.twistofpink.com<br />http://www.instagram.com/twistofpink<br />http://www.pinterest.com/twistofpink<br />
